Curtis Fox and The Past Present . Curtis Fox, Producer of THE PAST PRESENT. I n 1998 and 1999, independent radio producer Curtis Fox planned and initiated a new project, The Past Present: History For Public Radio , with the hope of establishing a weekly documentary series focusing on historical topics. He has begun producing a number of segments for the series. With time we hope to see the The Past Present take off and find its niche on public and non-commercial airwaves. Fox has kindly agreed to allow us to archive all of his productions here. All compressed audio streaming versions of the documentaries appearing below were processed by Talking History at the University at Albany, SUNY. ~ ~ ~ ~ America's Reconstruction. (1999) This documentary examines the Era of Reconstruction, from 1865 to 1877, looking closely at the radical transformation of race relations during that period. Leonard Lopate talks with historian Eric Foner; archival recordings of African-American spirituals and actor readings of freedpeople testimonies inform and enlarge their conversation.
